hundercat kicked off his fall 2025 North America tour on October 15th in Atlanta, GA. Following a busy August spent performing across Latin America, he will continue playing for his North America slate, hitting cities like New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, and others, in addition to his October 28th show in Washington, D.C. at The Anthem. No opener has been announced.
Though Thundercat’s last studio album release was in 2020 with It Is What It Is, the singer/songwriter and acclaimed bassist has recently released two new singles: “I Wish I Didn’t Waste Your Time” and “Children of the Baked Potato (feat. Remi Wolf).” In 2023, he came out with a special 10th anniversary edition of his second-ever studio album, Apocalypse.
Hailing from Los Angeles originally, Thundercat, born Stephen Lee Bruner, grew up amongst prominent musicians, including those in his own family. His father, Ronald Bruner Sr., a drummer, performed with The Temptations and The Supremes. Bruner’s mother, Pam, was a flautist and percussionist, and his brother, Jameel, was a keyboardist for the debut album of The Internet, an R&B-soul band. Bruner, though known primarily for his singing and bass-playing, is also a talented songwriter and producer. He utilizes this medley of musical abilities in his frequent collaborations with other artists, such as Erykah Badu, Mac Miller, and, most notably, Kendrick Lamar on To Pimp A Butterfly, a project for which Bruner won a Grammy. He has four solo albums, including his most recent project, which earned him the Grammy for Best Progressive R&B Album.
