Sigur Ros - Takk - Geffen
I love it love it love it. This album picks up where ( ) left off but goes even farther. The songs are more subtle and start off quiet and slow before swelling into a finish with all the instruments and vocal harmonies melding together (best example of this is in track 2, Glósóli). More strings, piano. I still like Ágætis Byrjun the best of all their albums but this one is a close second. The songs have a sweeter element to them, with the delicateness of the vocals enhanced by the use of instruments like xylophones, but it’s balanced out by the strong piano base and even some trumpets. Definitely very uplifting and soaring – listening to this album is like flying over clouds at night. There’s definitely a time and a place to play this, but it’s really amazing.
